For some applicants, the CFEd® designation, in and of itself, represents a level of attainment and recognition which fulfills their objective. For others, the prestige and value that the designation carries will enhance new marketing opportunities or relationships which already exist.
For a few, gaining the designation represents an even greater possibility: The potential of being admitted to the Registry of Certified Financial Educators™. CFEd® professionals who are admitted to the Registry enjoy a relationship through which they become sponsored by the Heartland Institute Consortium of Colleges and Universities to teach college-approved financial wellness courses to the employees of businesses.
Through its Registry of CFEd® professionals, the Heartland Institute provides onsite financial education for the employees and associates of businesses, organizations and associations. This education is presented through select courses and is sponsored by the colleges and universities that make up the Institute’s Consortium of Colleges and Universities.
Admittance to the Registry
The CFE Certified Financial Educator® designation denotes competency in financial services as well as practical experience in teaching adult learners. Some who achieve this designation want to go on to share their knowledge and expertise with the public by becoming part of the Registry of Certified Financial Educators.
The Registry comprises chosen CFEd® designees who receive additional training which qualifies them to teach the Institute’s financial literacy courses through the relationship between the Heartland Institute of Financial Education and the Heartland Institute's Consortium of Colleges and Universities. This relationship matches CFEd® professionals with local businesses and organizations to provide college-approved financial wellness courses for their employees and members.
To become a member of the Registry, a CFEd® is required to attend three days of training in preparation for offering these classes to businesses and their respective employees. Initial work and supervision with an existing CFE Certified Financial Educator® may be required to ensure acceptable competency. Registry members are selected based upon background, experience and written recommendations. To maintain Registry status, a CFEd® must teach a minimum number of employees/adult learners each year.
A CFEd® who is admitted to the Registry is required to pay a licensing fee, as well as an annual renewal fee. Please call for information on Registry requirements, benefits, and pricing. Each member is included in the National Marketing Cooperative.
Why Become a Registry Member?
Becoming a CFEd® Registry Member and providing value to employers, organizations and associations is quickly becoming the business building tool for informed financial professionals. This is especially important, since after many years of offering these courses, records indicate that over 80% of adult learner attendees will ask to meet with the CFEd® instructor for a personal Question and Answer period. This personal Q&A session is complementary, and without obligation to the student. A strong bond will likely be emerging by this point in the relationship. It is only natural that the CFEd® instructor will be the first place the student turns when he or she needs additional help and professional advice.
